The Department of Public Health is a vital department dedicated to fostering academic excellence in public health and global health through imparting theory and practical based learning for protecting and enhancing the health and well-being of communities. Through a combination of research, education, policy-making, and regulation, the department works to address a wide range of public health issues, including infectious diseases, chronic conditions, environmental health, maternal and child health, and emergency preparedness. By collaborating with healthcare providers, community organizations, and other government entities, the Department of Public Health plays a key role in shaping the health landscape of the population. It also monitors health trends, enforces public health laws, and implements programs aimed at reducing health disparities and improving overall health outcomes.

Our department is committed to preparing students for leadership roles in global health, government offices, United Nations agencies and Non Government bodies, besides research institutions. Headed by Dr. Prof. Edmond Fernandes, the department of public health is dynamic and vibrant achieving academic excellence and creating world class students with state of the art skills to rise to modern day public health challenges. Our faculty members are highly experienced professionals who bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the classroom. They possess diverse backgrounds in healthcare administration. Their commitment to teaching excellence and their industry experience ensure that our students receive a well-rounded and practical education. Our department offers a range of programs and courses tailored to meet the evolving needs of the healthcare industry.

We offer the following advanced programs in association with Edward & Cynthia Institute of Public Health:

• Masters of Public Health ( MPH )
• Post Graduate Diploma in Public Health (PGD-PH)
• PhD Programme (Full-time)

Our curriculum encompasses a broad range of subjects such as epidemiology, maternal and child health, disaster and climate studies, occupational and environmental health, healthcare management, health economics, health policy, public health nutrition, quality improvement, healthcare technology.

We believe in experiential learning and provide opportunities for students to gain real-world experience through internships, practicum placements, and fieldwork. These experiences allow students to apply their classroom knowledge in a practical setting, develop professional networks, and enhance their understanding of the challenges and opportunities in healthcare administration.

In addition to our academic programs, we foster a culture of research and innovation within the department. Our faculty members are actively engaged in research projects, contributing to advancements in healthcare administration. We encourage students to get involved in research initiatives, providing them with opportunities to present their findings at conferences.

Our students who have completed their Masters now work in Government Ministries, United Nations Offices, ICMR like research bodies, National Health Missions, Private Companies, Non Profit Firms, Corporate agencies etc.

Welcome to the Department of Public Health! We are delighted to have you join us in this exciting field of study. Never before in the world has public health been so critical to human survival and sustainability. Joining our department opens up your gateway to the world. Pursuing courses with us, interacting with our world class faculty and diving into the academic and research environment provides you a perfect ambience to create the kind of career you wish to have.

Students of different backgrounds opt for a career in public health. We work at the government/community level through various ways of research, policy making, grassroot level programs and core community engagement. From clean drinking water to proper immunization to building safety nets, preventive health measures, our world would be grappling with problems and remain in the dark if not for the heroes of public health who everyday champion the art of life, wellbeing and health. Imagine how many people die every-day, how many animals are killed everyday, imagine the human-animal interactions, diseases emerging from it, the science and safety behind it all. where would anyone of us be if not for public health professionals championing this trade and infusing life.
