Preamble:

Equipping students with personal and professional skills and inculcating positive mindset that can empower them to effectively pursue their life-long passions and purpose is one of the important student support system envisaged to be established in any University with a global outlook. In Higher education, the teacher quality and leadership are vital factors in raising student achievements. The Teachers and the faculty (schools) need to expand their knowledge and skills to implement best educational practices. Educators learn to help students to learn at the higher levels. Professional development programs are the only strategy to upgrade the skills and strengthen the ability of faculty, students to raise their performance levels. As a higher education institution every statutory body and the UGC are now giving utmost importance to the personality and professional development programs.

The student learning and achievement increases when the educators engage in effective professional development and address the students in major learning challenges through soft skill development, Language and communication skill development, Yoga and Wellness, Analytical skill development, Human Value development, personality and professional development and Employability skill development are the integral part of teaching and learning in the current higher education system reforms outlined by the higher education councils.

In Yenepoya (Deemed to be University) we had such mechanism earlier through Protrack which was involved in the student - faculty development programs as above mentioned.

These programmes addressed the current and future needs of core competencies across the organization and helped leverage the synergies across the group by conceptualizing and planning multiple programmes. It also focused on the needs of the students, faculty, support and administrative resources of the University, Hospital and their Constituents. It also organized training programs on leadership, communication skills and language to deal with patients and other hospital staff. With this background, we have established the dedicated centre under the name Yenepoya Centre for Professional and Personal Development (YCPPD).

Goals and objectives:

1. To establish a communication Lab.
2. To improve communication skills through various creative learning techniques and group activities.
3. To establish mechanism for improving Leadership Skills Development among students, staff and faculty of Yenepoya (Deemed to be University)
4. To improve overall personality through learning etiquettes.
