E-Learning centre

The E-Learning centre was established in the year 2011. The center is located on the main floor of the Central Library. The facility hosts 70 seater computer access seating along with necessary digital and audiovisual equipment. High speed internet connection on a wired and Wi-Fi are enabled 24 X7. This area is exclusively used for online activities such as participation in online tests, seminars and workshops.

E-learning exploits interactive technologies and communication systems to improve the learning experience. It can transform the way we teach and learn across the board. It can raise standards and widen participation in lifelong learning.

Yengage, the E-Learning portal for Yenepoya Deemed to be University, was set up by the Information Technology Section to support ICT based learning for students of Yenepoya University. This is an online service that facilitates the students, staff, tutors and management, a friendly and interactive environment, which will enable better learning by providing study information and learning content anytime, anywhere.

  • Groups: Make and manage multiple groups within the groups or a course.
  • Forums: Ask and answer questions, publish ideas, get peer opinion and feedback. Discuss topics covered in the classroom.
  • Manage Media: Share media between members. Build your media pool or a digital library.
  • Online Tests: Create and participate in online tests, get evaluated automatically and post results.
  • Feedback Forms: Create and participate in online surveys and feedback. Get automated feedback results during seminars and classroom sessions.
  • Online Calendar: Manage your personal and course calendar. Synchronise the course calendar from multiple departments you are part of. Synchronise the Yengage calendar with your email calendar.
  • Currently the e-learning centre caters to about 7000 plus students online.

To support the e-learning activities, the university deployed 2.2 Gbps internet bandwidth which is distributed to the campuswide network on wired and over 1200 access points. Students and faculty can connect to university data networks from the academic as well as university hostel network.

Digital teaching-learning

E-Learning centre successfully managed online classes, workshops and webinars during the covid lockdown and restricted teaching and learning. Daily 175 hours of classes were conducted throughout this restricted period. To aid digital teaching & learning, the centre issued over 14,000 official email accounts and video conferencing tools to all students and faculty.
