The Department of Library and Information Science, Yenepoya (deemed to be University) was established in the year 2019-2020 with the objective of producing highly skilled and competent professionals in the field of Library and Information Science. Since its inception, the department has been committed to academic excellence and professional growth. The department is staffed with well qualified and experienced faculty members who bring in a blend of academic expertise and practical knowledge to the classroom. The department is fully equipped with modern infrastructure and facilities like well equipped air conditioned classrooms, computer lab and Wi-Fi connectivity. Practical tools and equipment for classification and cataloguing are available for hands-on training. There is a comprehensive collection of textbooks, reference materials and journals to ensure rich academic support for teaching and research. The Master of Library and Information Science (M.Lib.I.Sc.) is a Two year Postgraduate Degree program in Library and Information Science. It consists of four semesters and has been done with an aim to equip students with extensive knowledge to navigate the digital world and to properly handle information.
Candidates who have passed any bachelor’s degree examination from a recognized university and have secured at least 50% marks in aggregate or equivalent CGPA scores shall be eligible for admission as per the university guidelines issued from time to time. Selection of candidates shall be on merit basis.

Academic Libraries: Managing the central/departmental libraries, digital repositories, e- resources of Universities, colleges, other higher educational institutions.
Public/Government Libraries:District/city/Town public libraries; libraries in government departments.
Special libraries: Libraries in institutions like law/court, hospitals, corporate R & D centres, museums, archives where there are specialised collections.
Archives and Records Management: Government archives, museums, historical societies or institutions/companies having records/archives or for data governance
Digital Libraries / Repositories: Digital Libraries / Repositories With digitization programmes (both government & private) and digital content creation, there are roles in managing digital assets, e-resources, metadata, digitization, etc.
Knowledge Management and Information Counselling: Especially in corporations, NGOs/research institutes to manage knowledge capturing, sharing, preserving; consulting on information organisation, data strategy etc.
Publishing/Editing/Media: Roles in Indexing, editing, reference work, content management.
Teaching/Academia/Research: as Library science faculty (with further qualifications like NET/SET/PhD); as researchers in library and information science.
