Dr. C.V.Raghuveer got his MBBS degree from Bangalore Medical College under Bangalore University in 1975 and pursued his post-graduation at the prestigious JIPMER in Pondicherry, acquiring his Diploma in Clinical Pathology in 1978 and M.D. in Pathology in 1979 both under Madras University. After a short stint at JIPMER, Dr.Raghuveer left for greener pastures to accept overseas assignments in two Universities abroad – initially for 4 years at University of ILORIN in Nigeria and later for 2 more years at Al-Arab Medical University in Benghazi, Libya. It was in 1986 that Dr. Raghuveer returned to India and joined the prestigious Kasturba Medical College under Manipal University where he worked for nearly 25 years and ultimately attained the coveted position of the Dean of that college. During his long sojourn in Kasturba Medical College, Prof.Raghuveer, a hard core academician honed his academic skills, practised pathology diligently and administered a large institution with elan.
Subsequently in the year 2009 Prof.Raghuveer was deputed by Manipal University to teach at the American University of Antigua in the Caribbean which he did with dedication and determination. His return from the West Indies in May 2009 was appropriate when he was absorbed into the Melaka Manipal Medical College, a twinning programme under Manipal University through a MoU signed between the Governments of India & Malaysia. Thus Prof.Raghuveer had taught and learnt in 5 different curricula. When he finally decided to leave Manipal, Prof.Raghuveer was dragged by a fledgling Medical College at Surathkal where he held dual positions of the Dean and Medical Director of Srinivas Institute of Medical Sciences and Research.
After going through an exasperating 18 months, Prof.Raghuveer was invited to join Yenepoya University where he was initially appointed as Director of Post Graduate Studies and Research and later as the Registrar of the University for 3 ½ years. He demitted the office of the Registrar on 9th July 2016 to join Sri Devaraj Urs Academy of Higher Education and Research (SDUAHER) on 16th July 2016 as its 3rd Vice Chancellor. From July 2016 until September 2018, Prof. Raghuveer worked passionately as the Vice Chancellor of SDUAHER. His administrative skills got further honed and he became a mature administrator. In September 2018, Prof. Raghuveer was invited to join as the 1st Pro Vice Chancellor of Yenepoya (Deemed to be University) where he discharges his duties with grit & determination.
Prof.Raghuveer brings with him rich academic and administrative experience. Academically he has been a supervisor for not less than 10 Ph.D. Scholars and as many as 35 M.D. (Pathology) post graduate students. He has 178 publications and over 250 Conferences and CME presentations to his credit in Pathology, Medical Education and Hospital Administration. He is a much sought after speaker at various fora. The fellowships he has been conferred with and the honors that he has received speak for themselves.
Prof.Raghuveer is married to Dr.Prabha Adhikari, Professor & Head of Geriatric Medicine Yenepoya Medical College, Mangalore. They have a son Dr.Pracheth who is an Assistant Professor in Community Medicine at Yenepoya Medical College and a daughter Priya who is a Computer Software Engineer in Australia. Her husband Reshub is a B.Tech MBA and is employed in Australia. Prof.Raghuveer has a penchant for Carnatic music and has had special training in Public Speaking. His daughter in law Dr. Kavya is an Obstetrician Gynecologist at KSHEMA and has a son. Prof. Raghuveer has a flair for learning new languages.
